I am the first to admit that I don’t always have control over my stressors. I’m working on it, but sometimes stress just gets the best of me! And, as I discussed last week, being a recovering perfectionist often makes it easier for the little things to set me off.
It’s that exact moment when I want to dig into potato chips and tequila that I have learned how to actually fuel my body with what it needs and wants. As a culture, we are quick to dig into “comfort foods” as a treat when times get tough, but that makes your body feel worse. When your system is processing any sort of anger, sadness, grief, stress, etc. it’s important to eat clean and alkaline to combat the acidity of these feelings. Eating bad-for-you foods just promotes that bad feeling.
I am lucky to have learned the quickest way back to my inner balance: a good juice and a few drops of one of my favorite calming flower essences. While there are a lot of products I use and recommend that take weeks to develop results, I will always be appreciative of ones that you can feel instantly. It’s one of my favorite things about juices- practically the minute they hit your system, you can feel the nutrients livening up your cells. When I need an emotional, physical or mental pick-me-up, I know I can turn to a juice and a flower essence and feel better instantly.
Here are two of my favorite juice recipes. Next time you are feeling stressed, anxiety-ridden, tired, sad or upset, try turning to these instead of junk food.
