Superfoods Saved My Life

Superfoods saved my life.

Without them, I am clear that the effects of my lymphoma and the toxicity caused by radiation therapy would have rendered me with life long sickness.

I knew I had to find natural sources to restore my body to its healthy state.   In my search, I found superfoods.

  • Are calorie sparse and nutrient dense
  • Are superior sources of antioxidants and essential nutrients (nutrients that our bodies cannot produce)
  • Are essential body balancers that work with the body function so that it can heal and regulate itself
  • Are cancer fighting, preventative and shown to inhibit tumor growth and reduce effect of some disease processes

Here are the 10 superfoods that I turn to on a daily basis (click on the superfood names for the links to buy them!) that keep me cancer free and thriving mentally, spiritually, and physically!

Bee Pollen

The richest source of vitamins found in a single food.  It contains all 22 of the essential amino acids, is a complete protein, and is linked with longevity.  Being that pollen is the reproduction mechanism of bees, it contains all the building blocks of life and its nutrients are highly concentrated.

*If you’ve never used bee pollen, start off gradually using raw, organic pollen and taking approximately a quarter of a teaspoon and working up to a teaspoon. If you’re allergic to bees, you are most likely allergic to pollen and should not consume.

Broccoli Sprouts

Nutrient rich sprouts increase the ease in digestion compared to broccoli and increase the health benefits.  Used to treat or prevent disease in particular respiratory issues. Broccoli sprouts promote more cancer fighting ability and antioxidant activity than broccoli itself, preventing both the development and growth of tumors in studies.

Camu Camu

A native fruit of the Amazonian rain forest.  One of the highest sources of vitamin C (60 times that of an orange per serving), antiviral, energy booster, eradicate free radicals, muscle and tissue recovery.  You won’t find in its whole form in the US, but can take as supplement in powder form or as an extract for a powerful immune boost.

A peruvian root plant, known to boost energy, libido, and overall stamina.  Contains hormone balancing properties and has an adaptogenic effect on the body (increasing immune finction, lowering stress and anxiety hormones, encouraging restorative sleep, ect).  Can be especially helpful for women, including increasing bone strength and decreasing effects of menopause and PMS.

Medicinal Mushrooms (Reishi, maitake, oyster, shiitake, lion’s mane, ect…)

Mesquite Powder

Extracted from seeds of mesquite plant, high in protein, digests slowly, is low glycemic, and rich in micronutrients.  A good food source for those predisposed to diabetes.  The zinc content aids immune function and properties of the plant contain anti-fungal benefits.

Schizandra Berry

Adaptagenic berry, which has shown in animal studies to have profound liver protection impact on the liver.  Taken as a tonic herb, schizandra has been revered as the superior herb, and to take it supports all areas of health.  Increases vitality and mental focus, but is also great for detoxifying and liver health.  Taken over time, this is a gentle blood purifier and is thought to contribute to longevity.

Highest source of complete protein comes from a spiral shaped algae (contains all 22 essential proteins).  Contains 3 times the B12 of liver, and 3-4 times the protein of beef.  Cardiovascular health benefits, detoxifies the body, and reduces inflammation.  Can take in powder form and add to juices and smoothies or in capsules (just look for capsules with no additives or fillers)
