Walnut Meat Four Ways

Even though I do eat meat, I love experimenting with plant-based protein options to go with my meals. They taste delicious, and are more easily digested by the body. This walnut meat is perfect for adding to tacos, homemade Bolognese, or even on top of a pizza. Here are four different flavor varieties so you can experiment with this plant-based protein!

Serves 4

Walnut Meat Base

2 cup walnuts
2 cup mushrooms, sliced
2 T Tamari (gf)
salt & pepper to taste

Mexican Walnut Meat

2 T cumin
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp chipotle powder

Italian Walnut Meat

3 T Italian seasoning
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp garlic powder

Indian Walnut Meat

3 tsp coriander
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp garam masala
1/2 tsp cayenne
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 onion powder

American Walnut Meat

2 tsp garlic powder
1 1/2 tsp onion powder
salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Pulse to combine the walnuts, mushrooms, Tamari, and spices in a food processor
  2. Taste the seasoning and adjust accordingly
  3. Warm it up over low heat, but don’t overcook
  4. Serve with your favorite dishes, and enjoy!
